Xabi Alonso Responds to Lamine Yamal’s Remarks Ahead of El Clasico

As the latest Spanish derby approaches, various voices are making headlines. Recently, Barcelona player Lamine Yamal sparked controversy by suggesting that Real Madrid gets assistance from referees. In response, Los Blancos manager, Xabi Alonso, has spoken out.

With the match set to occur in the iconic Santiago Bernabeu, Alonso was questioned in a press conference about whether Yamal’s comments were disrespectful. His reply clarified his stance.

“No, I’m not going to get into that. There are many statements coming from people at Barcelona, and I cannot start evaluating all of them. The important thing is what happens on the pitch, where we come from, what we have ahead of us tomorrow in the match, and how we want to play it. That is what concerns me most and what we have been working on,” said the Spanish coach.

Alonso chose to steer clear of the controversy, focusing instead on the upcoming game. Adding to the tensions, Barcelona will be without coach Hansi Flick, who was sent off during the last LaLiga match against Girona.

Carvajal plans to speak with Yamal after El Clasico

Reports from renowned Spanish media like Marca and Mundo Deportivo indicate that Yamal’s remarks were not welcomed by the Real Madrid players. Consequently, Madrid’s captain, Dani Carvajal, intends to talk to the Barcelona forward after the match to help ease any tension.

Carvajal aims to address this issue with Yamal to promote unity in the Spanish National Team’s locker room ahead of the 2026 World Cup, where both clubs have key players representing the national squad.
