Samuel Mbangula, the Werder Bremen striker born in Belgium, is reportedly in the process of changing his sporting nationality. The move comes as the Congolese national team, the Leopards, prepares for the upcoming World Cup set to take place this summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With an increasing number of dual nationals choosing to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mbangula’s decision aligns with a broader trend as the team seeks to bolster its roster. He is expected to join fellow dual national Jorthy Mokio in representing the DRC on the international stage.
At just 22 years old, Mbangula has previously played for Belgium’s youth national teams, advancing through the ranks from U15s to U21s.
