Real Madrid Star Buys Stake in Birmingham Phoenix Cricket Team
Jude Bellingham, the 22-year-old central midfielder for Real Madrid, has ventured beyond football by investing in cricket. The Mirror reports that he has acquired a one percent stake in the Birmingham Phoenix team for approximately $800,000.
The Birmingham Phoenix competes in The Hundred tournament, and its owners, Knighthead Investment Management and Yorkshire, have agreed to sell Bellingham half a percent each from their shares.
Bellingham, who has expressed a long-standing passion for cricket, played for Hagley Cricket Club in Worcestershire during his childhood. His investment reflects not only his interest in the sport but also a diversification of his portfolio.
This season, Bellingham has made a notable impact with Real Madrid, playing 33 matches and contributing 6 goals and 4 assists. His current contract with the club extends until 2029, and Transfermarkt estimates his transfer value at €140 million.
