Footem.in – Borussia Dortmund’s Fabio Silva is reportedly seeking
a move away from the club in January 2026, just months after joining from
Wolves.

Limited Playtime Under Niko Kovac

Silva arrived in Dortmund last summer. Surprisingly, he is already
considering an exit in the winter transfer window due to limited playing time
under coach Niko Kovac.

The Portuguese international is allegedly frustrated with his ‘less important’
role within the squad, raising concerns about his chances of participating
in the 2026 World Cup.

Having played only around 100 minutes in the Bundesliga so far, rumors of an
imminent departure have surfaced.

Silva’s transfer from Wolves to Dortmund was expected to be a significant
step in his career, providing stability after previous loan spells at four
different clubs.

Dortmund paid over €20 million (approximately IDR 342.6 billion, as of
November 7, 2025, 10:00 AM IST which is approx. €1.27 million) for the
former Porto player, offering him a long-term contract until 2030,
initially indicating their belief in his potential.

Just 100 Minutes on the Pitch

However, after an injury during medical tests and a slow integration into
Kovac’s plans, initial signs have been discouraging.

Silva has appeared in only nine matches, often with minimal impact, totaling
around 100 minutes of playing time this season.

His brief appearances often involve late-game substitutions, including a mere
two minutes in a 3-3 draw against Stuttgart, reportedly leaving Silva highly
disappointed.

World Cup 2026 Ambitions

Considering Wolves’ current struggles in their forward line, Silva might have
found more playing time had he remained with the Premier League club.

Silva’s ambition to secure a spot in Portugal’s squad for next year’s World
Cup is driving his concerns regarding his limited opportunities at Dortmund.

According to Sky Germany, Silva is already considering a ‘lightning
exit’ in January, despite joining Dortmund in late August 2025.
