Mexican football is currently facing turmoil just weeks ahead of the 2026 World Cup scheduled to be held in the country. The Mexican national team has issued a stern warning stating that any player who does not report to the training camp by 8:00 PM today will be officially removed from the squad.
This decisive ultimatum comes in response to the Club Deportivo Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas, which has been reluctant to release its key players for national team duties. The situation escalated as players from Toluca were allowed to join the national setup later, intensifying frustrations within Chivas regarding perceived “double standards.”
In a strong reaction, Chivas management instructed their players to disregard the call-up, prompting a hardline stance from the Mexican football federation. The fallout from this conflict poses significant implications for the team’s preparation ahead of the World Cup.
As the situation develops, it is important to note that Mexico’s World Cup group includes matches against South Africa, South Korea, and Czechia.
