Manchester United Ready to Take Time in Finding Mourinho’s Successor

Manchester United is planning to find a permanent replacement for Ruben Amorim this summer.

Amorim was let go as head coach on Monday after a disappointing 14 months. He finishes with the lowest win percentage (32%) among any Manchester United manager in the Premier League era.

Initially seen as a promising coach when hired in November 2024, Amorim struggled to adapt at Old Trafford. His inability to adjust his preferred tactics drew criticism as results worsened.

United is focused on making the right choice for the next coach and is ready to wait for the right fit. Darren Fletcher has taken interim charge, with the club willing to let him manage for the rest of the season.

According to the Independent, Crystal Palace’s manager Oliver Glasner is a top candidate to take over from Amorim.

The Austrian coach led Crystal Palace to its first major trophy last season and previously won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt. However, it may be hard to secure Glasner mid-season.

Another option is Enzo Maresca, who left Chelsea on New Year’s Day. He departed after conflicts with the club’s board, despite leading Chelsea to victories in the Conference League and Club World Cup in 2025.

The Manchester United board has expressed appreciation for Maresca’s work at Stamford Bridge.
