Man United Announces Major Step Forward in Plans for 100,000-Seat Stadium

When the initial plans were revealed, there was hope that construction on the new stadium would begin by 2025.

However, with only a few weeks left this year, that timeline seems uncertain.

In a conversation with Sky Sports, United’s chief operating officer, Roche, expressed a positive outlook on the progress.

“We’re still very focused on building a new stadium at Old Trafford. There is clearly a lot of work to do before we can start construction,” he said.

“We are in discussions with local landowners to secure the best location for the stadium, aiming for a site that will last over 100 years. We are also collaborating closely with local authorities to make this happen.

“The Mayoral Development Corporation will launch formally in January, which we see as a significant step in the overall regeneration effort.”

“We are very ambitious, and while much is happening behind the scenes, we hope to share some exciting news soon.”

Update on Manchester United’s New Stadium Timeline

To have the stadium ready by the 2030/31 season, construction needs to start soon.

On a brighter note, it appears United is close to securing the land needed, which has been a major hurdle up to this point.

The club is also planning to make a bid to host matches during the 2035 Women’s World Cup, indicating strong internal confidence about moving forward.

In the meantime, United will continue playing at Old Trafford until the new stadium is complete. Once they move in, the Theatre of Dreams will be demolished.
