Bayern Draws, Kompany Unfazed by Guardiola’s Record

Footem.in – Bayern Munich‘s current season start is marked by record-breaking performances, including a streak of 16 consecutive wins across all competitions. The team has the potential to set even more records this season.

Guardiola’s Impressive Record at Allianz Arena

During the 2015-2016 Bundesliga season, under Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich secured victories in their first 10 matches. The streak ended with a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 30, 2015.

Despite this, they clinched the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, but were eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals by Atletico Madrid on away goals (2-2 aggregate).

After their recent match against Union Berlin, Bayern had the opportunity to match Guardiola’s 2015-2016 record. Vincent Kompany’s squad had won their first nine Bundesliga games this season before drawing at Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

Harry Kane’s late header secured a point for Bayern, as Union proved formidable at home against the defending Bundesliga champions, who were energized by their midweek victory over PSG.

Focus Solely on Winning

Before the draw with Union Berlin, Kompany’s team had victories over RB Leipzig, FC Augsburg, Hamburg SV, TSG Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Bayer Leverkusen, marking a historic start with 16 wins in all competitions.

In a press conference before the Union Berlin match, Kompany addressed Guardiola’s record.

He emphasized his focus on winning against Berlin and securing the title this season, purely from a business perspective.

“I’m not focused on records; I’d rather win finals than break records, but we’ve won a lot of games, and it’s about mentality: winning 16 in a row should give you confidence,” the Belgian manager stated, according to @iMiaSanMia on X.

Guardiola’s Influence on Kompany’s Career

Kompany played under Guardiola towards the end of his tenure at Manchester City. The two have faced each other as managers three times, when Kompany managed Burnley, with Guardiola winning each encounter.

Guardiola has been significant in Kompany’s career as both a player and manager. The 39-year-old mentioned that they communicate regularly.

“I’ve said many times, Pep played a very important role in my career as a player, and in my development as a coach. We haven’t spoken much since last summer, he’s been busy trying to get back to the top of the Premier League,” Kompany noted.

“However, we always communicate regularly, so at some point we’ll be in touch again. I’m definitely still following Manchester City’s progress and want them to win the league and be successful,” he added.
