“I Wouldn’t Have Done What Trent Did”: Gerrard On Rejecting Real Madrid To Stay At Liverpool

Former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard has weighed in on the possibility of Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to Real Madrid.

“I would not have done that. Leaving Liverpool in your prime with a new contract offer is a risk. He is living with that risk now. I hope everything works out for him because I love the guy.”

“Any player in the world would be interested if Barcelona or Real Madrid approaches them. Real Madrid genuinely wanted to sign me under Mourinho. It was serious. It didn’t get as much coverage as the rumors about Chelsea because it was quickly dismissed due to the timing and conditions offered.”

“I understand why Trent might do it. His best friend [Bellingham] plays there. Perhaps he wants to challenge himself. He has won everything at Liverpool, so I can understand his perspective,” Gerrard said while speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s program.
