Four Tennis Players Andy Murray Would Like to Coach in 2022

Who Andy Murray Wanted to Coach in 2022

In a recent interview with The Metro, Andy Murray mentioned Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Carlos Alcaraz as players he would be interested in coaching.

Murray explained his choices by saying, “They work hard, and they seem to love the sport. Alcaraz and Tsitsipas haven’t won a Grand Slam yet. They’re still young, and I think they have the potential to do it.”

Since then, Alcaraz has won several Grand Slams under the coaching of Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The Spanish player has six Grand Slam titles and aims for a Career Grand Slam at the 2026 Australian Open.

The other three players have had different experiences compared to Alcaraz.

Draper had a breakout season in 2025, winning his first Masters title at Indian Wells, but he has yet to secure a Grand Slam. He reached the US Open semi-finals in 2024 and is viewed as a future Grand Slam contender.

Raducanu has struggled since her remarkable US Open win in 2021. She has not made significant progress in major tournaments but has shown signs of improvement in 2025.

Tsitsipas has reached two Grand Slam finals and won the ATP Finals but has seen a decline in his rankings over the years.

Andy Murray’s Head-to-Head Record Against Players He Wanted to Coach

Murray has faced all three male players he expressed interest in coaching, giving him a close look at their playing styles.

The Scot played Alcaraz twice on the ATP Tour, winning once at Indian Wells, while Alcaraz triumphed in Vienna.

Draper and Murray have met officially once, with Draper winning in straight sets at Indian Wells in 2023.

Murray has faced Tsitsipas three times, with Tsitsipas leading their head-to-head with two victories. Tsitsipas won their matches at Wimbledon and the US Open, while Murray’s only win came at the Stuttgart Open in 2022.
