Flamengo Makes History, Becomes First Brazilian Team to Win Copa Libertadores Four Times

Flamengo has won its fourth Copa Libertadores title, defeating Palmeiras 1-0 in the final at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru. With this win, Flamengo becomes the first Brazilian club to secure the championship four times. The victory is also significant as it comes after their 2-1 loss to Palmeiras in the 2021 final.

The only goal of the match came in the 67th minute when defender Danilo scored a header from a corner kick taken by De Arrascaeta.

The game was a tough contest, with a total of 33 fouls committed and seven yellow cards shown. Palmeiras faced a setback when Vitor Roque missed a key opportunity to score late in the game.

Flamengo achieved this victory under the guidance of manager Filipe Luís, who has now become the ninth person to win the tournament as both a player and a manager. This title adds to his previous successes with the club in 2019 and 2022. The win marks the seventh consecutive Copa Libertadores title for a Brazilian team. It also opens up the possibility for Flamengo to aim for a treble in 2025, which would include the Brazilian Super Cup and the league title.

With its fourth title, Flamengo is now tied with Argentina’s Estudiantes. Independiente is the only club with more titles, having won the competition seven times.
For Flamengo, this victory represents a significant achievement.
