Footem.in – Real Madrid‘s young talent, Joan Martinez, is attracting interest from several clubs, including Borussia Dortmund. The defender has a release clause of €70 million (approximately IDR 1.3 trillion, or €4,292,785.60).

Real Madrid has been carefully managing Joan Martinez’s future. The young player, considered a top talent from Castilla, recently returned to training with the first team after being sidelined for over a year.

However, since his return, Martinez hasn’t made a single appearance for the senior team, even when coach Xabi Alonso needed squad depth.

Real Madrid is taking a cautious approach with the 18-year-old, allowing him to gain playing time with Castilla to regain confidence and rhythm.

Martinez Wants to Stay at Real Madrid

According to The Athletic, Borussia Dortmund is among the clubs interested in Joan Martinez.

The German giants are reportedly keen to seize the opportunity to potentially acquire one of Real Madrid’s best young talents in recent years, along with a number of other European clubs.

However, Joan Martinez is unlikely to leave Real Madrid, as he is determined to prove himself at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Furthermore, Joan Martinez recently signed a contract extension with Real Madrid in October of last year, and the club has been very supportive throughout his recovery period.

Another major obstacle for Dortmund and other clubs is the defender’s release clause of €70 million (approximately IDR 1.3 trillion, or €4,292,785.60), higher than that of other young Castilla talents.

This release clause might deter Die Borussen from pursuing Martinez, although it doesn’t guarantee his future at Bernabeu.

Martinez will be looking for opportunities to play in the first team in the second half of the season, especially if Madrid continues to face injury problems.

Joan Martinez was born in Alginet, Valencia, in 2007. The defender idolizes Sergio Ramos, the former Real Madrid and Spain star.

He began his career at Levante’s youth academy from 2014 to 2023 before moving to Real Madrid’s academy.

Martinez debuted for the senior team during Madrid’s pre-season tour of the United States on August 1, 2024 (IST: August 1, 2024), in a friendly against AC Milan.

Unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury in training a few days later. Joan Martinez underwent surgery in September 2024 and has been recovering since.
