Napoli’s President De Laurentiis Looks Back on Osimhen Sale, Discusses Conte’s Influence on the Move

Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of SSC Napoli, has shared his regrets about selling Victor Osimhen, highlighting how manager Antonio Conte played a crucial role in the decision to let the star striker go.

In an interview with The Athletic, De Laurentiis disclosed that Napoli received a staggering €200 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain and other clubs for a package deal that included both Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Napoli president noted that during discussions, Conte was upfront about his preferences—he agreed to Osimhen’s departure but insisted on keeping Kvaratskhelia at the club.

“When we started with Conte, we received an offer of €200m from PSG and others to sell Osimhen and Kvara together,” De Laurentiis explained. “Conte said, ‘Osimhen you can sell, but please don’t sell Kvara.’”

“Big mistake. Because after, I had big trouble with Kvara’s father and agent,” he added, referring to the Georgian winger.
