Former Ghana Coach Chris Hughton Shares His Journey Through Prostate Cancer and Recovery After Surgery

Former Ghana national football team coach Chris Hughton has shared details of his recovery from prostate cancer, a diagnosis he received last year. The 67-year-old has made a full recovery after undergoing surgery to remove his prostate in May 2025.

In a recent interview, Hughton described his healing journey, stating that he received comprehensive advice on all available treatment options before deciding to proceed with the surgery. He expressed satisfaction with his recovery, noting that it has progressed smoothly.

The coach said, “I had very good advice and all the treatment options were given to me, and I decided to have my prostate removed. The recovery has gone really well.

“I’m one year post-operation and I feel good. It’s all gone very well. I’ve got a lot of energy.

“Keeping active and busy is part of how I am anyway, but it’s also about rehabilitation and keeping your mind active as well.

“I’m very comfortable with my prognosis and my post-operation feelings. I’m in a really good place.”
