Cameroon U20 women’s team edges past Tanzania, moving closer to qualification

The Lionesses showcased a commanding performance in the first leg of the final round of African qualifiers for the U20 Women’s World Cup. The match took place on Saturday, 2 May, at the Mfandena Multi-Sports Stadium, where the Cameroonian side hosted Tanzania.

In front of a supportive home crowd, the Lionesses overpowered their Tanzanian opponents. Maeva Nyadjou made a significant impact by scoring twice, once in the 37th minute and again in the 49th minute, while Kiki Meva added a third goal for Cameroon.

This victory is pivotal for the Cameroonian U20 Lionesses, who are set to travel to Zanzibar on 10 May for the return leg. A solid performance in this upcoming match could secure their qualification for the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
