Brighton Could Secure Champions League Spot Next Season: Here’s What Must Happen

Brighton & Hove Albion, affectionately known as “The Seagulls,” could be on the brink of making their first Champions League appearance. Aston Villa has the potential to contribute significantly to this outcome.

In a significant turn of events following Brighton’s recent victory over Chelsea, betting platform Polymarket has indicated that Brighton may have a genuine opportunity to qualify for next season’s Champions League, even if they finish sixth in the Premier League.

The scenario hinges on Aston Villa’s performance in the Europa League. Currently competing in the tournament, if Villa secures a win and also claims fifth place in the Premier League, Brighton would automatically earn a Champions League spot by finishing sixth. This is due to Villa qualifying as Europa League winners, which would leave one league slot open based on tournament rules.

Polymarket Sports currently assesses Aston Villa’s chances of clinching the Europa League title at 50%. They are set to face Nottingham Forest in the semifinals. If Forest triumph in the tournament, they would also earn a Champions League berth, potentially sidelining Brighton from qualification.

Reminder: Liverpool‘s new target! Brighton ready to let star go
