Arsenal defender Ben White has rejoined the England squad for the first time since leaving the camp during the 2022 World Cup.

White has been called up for friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan this month, as he has not played for England since facing the Ivory Coast in March 2022.

The defender left the World Cup squad that year amid reports of a disagreement with the coaching staff.

England announced that White will take the place of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jarell Quansah in the squad, while Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes is also included following Eberechi Eze’s withdrawal.

“Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes and Arsenal’s Ben White have been added to the England squad,” the statement from the England team said.

“The two replace Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah, who are out of the March internationals due to injury.”

“Barnes has made one appearance for the senior team in October 2020, while White has four caps.”
