Barcelona submits new complaint to UEFA regarding Champions League officiating

Barcelona is taking legal action once more.

Details: The Catalan club has filed a second official complaint to UEFA this week, as reported by Marca. The Blaugrana management is incensed by the refereeing and VAR decisions during their Champions League quarter-final matches against Atlético Madrid, claiming that these errors denied them a spot in the semi-finals.

Club president Joan Laporta expressed his frustration at the Godó tournament, stating:

“The officiating and VAR are a disgrace.”

He detailed several controversial incidents that the club believes were misjudged, including the sending off of Cubarsí, Pubill’s handball in the box during the first leg, Eric García’s red card, the penalty that was not awarded to Olmo, and the incident involving Fermín and goalkeeper Musso in the second leg.

The club’s complaint highlights that these mistakes resulted in “significant sporting and financial harm” to Barcelona.

Reminder: Lamine Yamal recently mocked Real Madrid following their elimination from the Champions League.
