Days after an incident that sparked controversy within the Real Madrid camp, defensive midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni publicly acknowledged his misconduct. The altercation, which involved Federico Valverde, escalated to physical confrontation during a training session.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, the 26-year-old expressed remorse for his actions. Tchouaméni emphasized the importance of setting a proper example for younger players in both football and education.
“What happened this week in training is unacceptable — I say this thinking of the example we must set for the youth, whether in football or in school. Regardless of who was right or wrong, we must always strive for the calmest solution to resolve conflict.
First and foremost, 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐩 𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛. I know that fans, staff, my teammates, and the management are all deeply disappointed with how this season has unfolded. But disappointment cannot justify everything.
These incidents, even if they can happen in any locker room, are unworthy of Real Madrid. Especially since Real is the most talked-about club in the world.
In any case, now is not the time to figure out who did what, who said what, who was right, and who was wrong. I acknowledge the club’s sanction and accept it.
We remain a family, we have disagreements, but we must always put our goals above all else.” 𝐈 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩, and I also want to apologize to all Madridistas.
The altercation resulted in Valverde sustaining a severe blow to the face, causing him to hit his head on a table, which led to temporary memory issues. Valverde is currently recuperating at home, where his condition has been described as satisfactory.
Costly mistake: Real Madrid has officially announced disciplinary actions against both Tchouaméni and Valverde as a consequence of the altercation.
