Atletico Star Injured, Set to Miss World Cup

Madrid’s Atletico continues to face a series of unfortunate events. Following their recent exit from the Champions League against Arsenal, the club has been dealt another significant blow.

According to reports from MARCA, midfielder Johnny Cardoso has sustained a severe injury during training that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. The American player has been diagnosed with a high-grade ankle ligament sprain, which occurred during a challenging session.

This injury not only complicates Atletico’s aspirations for the season but also puts Cardoso’s hopes of participating in a home World Cup in jeopardy. While the exact recovery timeline is yet to be determined, the seriousness of the injury suggests he will not be fit in time for the tournament.

Throughout the current season, Cardoso has made 30 appearances for Atletico in all competitions, managing to score once, with that goal coming during the Champions League playoff against Belgian side Brugge.

Atletico is demanding explanations from UEFA after the match against Arsenal.
