Atlético Madrid Leader Seeks Exit—Where’s He Headed?

In the summer of 2024, Atlético Madrid welcomed Julián Álvarez, who quickly established himself as one of the team’s key players. However, indications suggest that he may now be seeking a new challenge.

According to insider Jose Alvarez, the Argentine striker has communicated to Atlético Madrid’s management his desire to transfer to Barcelona in the upcoming summer window.

This season, Álvarez has made 47 appearances across all competitions, netting 19 goals and providing nine assists. His contributions have been instrumental in guiding Atlético Madrid to the Copa del Rey final and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Barcelona’s management is currently evaluating another striking option as well. They are reportedly impressed by Atlético forward Alexander Sørloth’s athleticism and on-field performance, with discussions about a potential transfer estimated to be around €25 million.

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal picked up an injury in a La Liga match shortly after scoring and was forced to leave the pitch. It is now known how serious the issue is.
